2023 National League NL MVP Odds
As the 2023 MLB season approaches, there are several players who are likely to emerge as strong contenders for the National League MVP award. Among them are Juan Soto of the Washington Nationals and Matt Olson of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Soto burst onto the scene in 2018 and has quickly become one of the most feared hitters in the league. In 2022, he hit .311 with 38 home runs and 110 RBIs, while also drawing a league-leading 140 walks. Soto’s combination of power and plate discipline make him a true force at the plate, and if he can lead the Nationals back to the playoffs in 2023, he will likely be a top candidate for the MVP award.
Olson, on the other hand, is a player who has flown somewhat under the radar but has quietly become one of the best first basemen in the game. In 2022, he hit .288 with 43 home runs and 119 RBIs, while also playing solid defense at first base. If he can replicate those numbers and help lead the Brewers to a deep playoff run, Olson could easily find himself in the MVP conversation.

Also on the list is Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Betts has been a consistent MVP candidate in recent years, and his incredible all-around skills make him a threat to win the award every season. In 2022, Betts hit .294 with 29 home runs and 99 RBIs, while also stealing 22 bases and playing elite defense in right field. With the Dodgers poised for another deep playoff run, Betts could easily put up even better numbers in 2023 and cement himself as the front-runner for the award.
Another player to watch is Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves. Acuña had a breakout season in 2021, hitting .281 with 41 home runs and 101 RBIs, while also stealing 24 bases and playing solid defense in center field. If he can build on that performance in 2023 and lead the Braves to another division title, he could end up taking home the MVP trophy.
Finally, there’s Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres. Tatis is one of the most electrifying players in the game, with his combination of power, speed, and defensive prowess making him a true all-around superstar. In 2022, he hit .279 with 42 home runs and 97 RBIs, while also stealing 25 bases and making highlight-reel plays at shortstop. If he can stay healthy and lead the Padres to their first playoff appearance since 2020, he could easily be the top candidate for the MVP award.
Of course, there are plenty of other players who could emerge as MVP favorites as the season progresses. But for now, Betts, Acuña, and Tatis Jr. are the ones to watch as the 2023 campaign gets underway.
